South Florida Peacock & Bass Fishing Reports 12-4-07

Today we were out trying out some new canals we've never fished before for Peacock Bass. With a little cold front coming through this morning the Peacock Bass were tough in the morning. As the day went by though the Peacock Bass became active and the pictures show the day we had. We managed 12 nice Peacock Bass up to 5 lbs. Not bad for our first time on this different system. All of these fish were caught with rattletraps in very shallow water. It's staying quite warm in South Florida which should heat up our bass and peacock bass fishing in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale lakes and canals. Lake Okeechobee and the South Florida Everglades bass fishing will improve now that our raining season is over with no threats of hurricanes! South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing Reports 11-29-07

Richard Hart and his friend from London,England Ray were out for 2 days of Peacock Bass fishing in Miami. For 2 days they boated 44 peacock bass up to 4 lbs. Most of these Peacocks were caught on shiners and rattletraps. Richard has been down twice now and is looking forward to an Amazon trip for monster Peacock Bass in Brazil. This picture of Richard is after he fell over the seat fighting this Peacock. Mike Greico is also pictured here, Mike and I were out November 14 th in the South Florida Everglades looking for largemouth bass and caught 30 bass up to 2.5 lbs. Nothing big for bass but with the water so high in the Everglades we were quite happy to boat that many bass. Amazon Peacock Bass Report

Well I just returned from the Amazon deep in Brazil for big Peacock Bass. The trip was incredible and the service was second to none! The Peacock Bass fishing was alittle slow but we still boated 40 Peacock Bass up to 16 lbs. Week two saw a big increase in size and numbers with fish being boated over 20 pounds. Big Peacock Bass are best caught on large topwater lures with propellers. The explosion up top will make your heart miss a beat I'm sure! You can also use jigs, jerkbaits, and flies for the fly fisherman. The smaller lures will usually catch twice as many fish but usually smaller Peacock Bass. South Florida also offers Peacock Bass fishing with the Amazon Butterfly Peacock Bass in most local lakes and canals through out Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing Reports 9-19-07

Today we caught 8 bass up to 6 lbs. and totaling 24 lbs. with our best 5. To see these fish pictures visit our website at http://www.southfloridafishing.org/_wsn/page3.html on the reports page or to book a guided Florida bass fishing trip. So the bass fishing in the South Florida Everglades continues to be good considering higher water. Bass fishing in Florida really depends on water temperatures and levels especially in the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee. When the water is high and hot the bass tend to be sluggish and head into the heaviest cover or the flats for better oxygen and cooler shady water. The will also suspend on the drop offs in the center of the canals and sometimes head to the bottom. I’m still catching good bass lately as evidence of these fish caught today. I also fished a night bass tournament Friday 9-14-07 and many 20+ limits were brought to the scale with countless stories of the big bass that broke people off including myself. The Peacock Bass also tend to bite quite well in hot water and can be fished all year round with good success. We were out two weeks ago and the Peacock Bass in Miami were still actively feeding. Peacock bass love warm to hot water because of their Amazon nature and being a cichlid aren’t overly affected. So if South Florida is a summertime destination for fishing give bass or peacock bass a try in the beautiful Florida Everglades or Miami and Ft. Lauderdale canals. South Florida Bass Fishing reports 9-11-07

We’ll the fishing for bass in the Everglades is still decent considering high hot water conditions. We were out today for a 5 hours and caught 6 bass up to 5 lbs mostly just under the surface. The biggest bass got away again and was quite large but that’s what all fisherman say isn’t it! For late summer the fishing was o’kay and if the rain stays away the spring time is going to be absolutely incredible! South Florida Peacock & Bass Fishing Reports 8-22-07

The fishing in South Florida for peacock bass and largemouth bass is still quite good. We decided to fish for a half-day for bass yesterday and boated 15 bass up to 4 lbs. After about 11:30 am we had to head back to the ramp because the South Florida heat and thunderstorms were getting the best of us. The summer is a good time for peacock bass and largemouth if you know when and where to fish. Peacock bass usually love hot water and fast moving baits because their metabolism is high. Give us a call for more detailed or booking information at (954) 445-1811 or check out our website at http://www.southfloridafishing.org/ . We also are now offering trips to Brazil deep into the Amazon for monster Peacock Bass and this information can be seen at the website or at http://www.amazonpeacockbass.blogspot.com/.

South Florida Peacock & Bass Fishing Reports 8-10-07

The fishing in South Florida over the last few weeks has been especially good for peacock bass. We've been catching up to 20 fish on half-day trips and up to 30 for full-day trips. The bass fishing in the Florida Everglades is starting to slow down during day light hours but the night fishing is still red hot. We were out fun fishing last Wednesday and a few nice fish up to 6 lbs. on plastic floating worms. The peacock bass are biting live bait and jigs or rattletraps. Topwaters lures worked quickly will also catch it's fair share of peacocks or bass.
