Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

Judd Webb from Chicago and I were out on Monday March 8, 2010 for Largemouth Bass in the South Florida Everglades. We landed probably 60 bass up to 3 lbs. The larger fish will start to eat real soon when the water drops and heats up about 10 degrees which doesn't take long in southern Florida. We fish all over South Florida for bass and peacock bass and will provide any information about fishing in the Ft. Lauderdale or Miami areas. South Florida Peacock Bass

Fishing in South Florida for Peacock Bass is still o'kay considering these cold weather nights we've been experiencing. Now that most of the cold weather is gone the fishing will improve quickly. The month of April should be the beginning of a good season. Last week Jake Bussolini and his brother-in-law Ron from Chicago only landed 10 Peacock Bass but they did get one real nice one at 4 lbs. South Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

The last two weeks in the Florida Everglades has been nothing short of outstanding. Today we caught 140 bass all on lures all day long. The spawning season is upon us so within weeks it's only going to get better if that's possible. About two weeks ago we landed 75 bass on alligator alley also. South Florida Peacock Bass

George Darnell and his daughter Marcia who was down from Alabama were out on Thursday January 28th for some Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida. The canals are alive and well even after the fish kill of two weeks ago. The peacock bass faired well and we boated about 25 fish up to 4 lbs. South Florida Peacock Bass

The Peacock Bass fishing in the canals of South Miami are still hot despite the cold weather South Florida has been experiencing. We are getting in the high's 30's now. On Saturday January 2nd I had Mike Kenny from Washinging D.C. out for butterfly peacock fishing. Mike had a great day and we totaled 24 peacocks up to 5 lbs. with this beauty Mike landed shown here. South Florida Peacock Bass

It's been a great few months in South Florida for Peacock Bass fishing. I just wish this cold weather would let up, because the fishing would be even better. We've had nights in the low 40's which could kill these Amazon cichlids if the fish can't find warmer water. On November 3rd I had two clients from Iowa who were happy to be in our weather. The two guys caught over 40 peacocks with this beauty at 7 lbs. which was John's first fish of the morning. South Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

Luis Rojas and I were out fishing last Friday out in the South Florida Everglades and boated some nice fish considering how hot it is. We caught 12 largemouth bass with this nice beauty weighing five pounds. To catch fish like this in the Everglades is fun for this time of year. The water is usually so high we usually don't waste our time fishing much except on Lake Okeechobee in the mornings. Now peacock bass will bite good this time of year without much effort, but largemouth bass will shut quickly after the sun gets up high in the late morning.

South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

We've had multiple fishing trips for peacock bass in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami canals this summer and have done quite well. Peacocks will usually bite no matter how hot it gets in South Florida. Native of Brazil and a tropical species, heat will get them feeding quite well. We usually recommend live bait because they will eat shiners much better than lures. The last trip I had we used all artificial bait and caught this beautiful butterfly from a Miami canal. As we head into winter the bigger peacocks should start to spawn again very shallow.
