Miami Peacock Bass fishing just keeps amazing me at how good it's been. We've been out quite a few times over the last month and have caught plenty of fish up to 4 lbs. Florida Peacock Bass fishing has been great lately. We've been out quite a few times over the last month. Each time out we've caught about 15 to 20 peacock bass mostly on shiners and some on lures. Everglades Largemouth Bass Fishing

It's been an awesome spring and would have been even better had the rain let up. It was also colder than normal which slowed things down in early part of spring. We've been catching about 50 to 75 largemouth bass on every trip and some up to 8 lbs. Here's a nice 8 lb. bass caught by Capt. Chuck on alligator alley in early April. Florida Peacock Bass

Robert Lopez and his cousin Robert from New York city were quite pleased to land about 20 peacocks for a half-day trip in late May. The winter fish kill has slowed down the numbers somewhat but we're still managing decent numbers considering. Next spring we should be fine because I'm seeing plenty of fry meaning the hatch was good. Peacocks muture quickly and grow at a rate of 10 inches per year! Florida Peacock Bass

The Peacock Bass fishing is starting to heat up after all this cold weather we've experienced. Our night time temperatures were dropping into the the 40's some nights. If our water temperatures drop below 60 degrees the peacock bass have to find warmer water or they will die. The northern sections of their range did experience a substantial fish kill, fortunately the southern areas didn't get hit as bad. It's will take a few years in the areas north of Ft. Lauderdale for the fish levels to re-populate. Everglades Largemouth Bass Fishing

It's ben an outstanding few weeks of bass fishing in the South Florida Everglades. We've been fishing a half a dozen times and have been boated 50 to 100 fish each time out. Most of these bass were small a few weeks back but now the size is improving. Here's a nice 5 lb. fish we landed about a week ago.

Here is a nice butterfly peacock bass that Ron caught on Wednesday March 10, 2010 from a Miami canal. This fished weighed just under 4 lbs. and put up a great fight that Ron wasn't expecting. Fishing in South Florida for Peacock Bass is still o'kay considering these cold weather nights we've been experiencing. Now that most of the cold weather is gone the fishing will improve quickly. The month of April should be the beginning of a good season. Last week Jake Bussolini and his brother-in-law Ron from Chicago only landed 10 Peacock Bass but they did get one real nice one at 4 lbs. South Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

The last two weeks in the Florida Everglades has been nothing short of outstanding. Today we caught 140 bass all on lures all day long. The spawning season is upon us so within weeks it's only going to get better if that's possible. About two weeks ago we landed 75 bass on alligator alley also. South Florida Peacock Bass

It's been a great few months in South Florida for Peacock Bass fishing. I just wish this cold weather would let up, because the fishing would be even better. We've had nights in the low 40's which could kill these Amazon cichlids if the fish can't find warmer water. On November 3rd I had two clients from Iowa who were happy to be in our weather. The two guys caught over 40 peacocks with this beauty at 7 lbs. which was John's first fish of the morning. Now that the water is heating up our South Florida Peacock Bass waters should be wonderful for catching these beautiful Amazon fish. We are the only place in the continental U.S. that these fish can be caught. Hot water keeps the fish very active which we are finally experiencing. We had quite a few colder evening which will put these fish into shock. Once the water gets into the high seventies the spawning ritual begins and should last late into the summer until the rain shuts down the fishing again. The Everglades of South Florida for bass fishing is getting better everyday. Each week we've catching many fish with days over 100 largemouth bass. They have been mostly small but today Mike Greico from New York City boated this pig weighing in at 8 lbs. We only caught maybe 30 fish with this monster being the only good keeper. South Florida Everglades bass fishing is heating up even though the water and weather is cooling off. The water levels are dropping and cooling off to the point where the bass are entering the pre-spawn mode. Tim & Heather Gray along with Scott Eynon decided to Peacock Bass fishing on Tuesday. They landed 7 fish up to 4 lbs. which Heather was the champ! We fished about 6 hours and fishing was a little tough because of the cooler water. Each day will improve as the weather gets hotter. We did happen to see quite a few bigger male peacocks getting ready to spawn. It's been awhile that we've been out in the Everglades Bass fishing this year. Plaqued by high water it's been tough bass fishing everywhere in South Florida. Water levels dictate the quality of the largemouth fishing except on Lake Okeechobee. We decided to try the Holy land wildlife refuge yesterday and did o'kay. My partner Capt. Victor Cole and I landed about 20 small bass in a half-day all on plastics up to 5 1/2 lbs. With falling water levels starting any day now the bass fishing in South Florida should improve. South Florida Peacock Bass 11-2-08

It's been good peacock bass fishing over the last two weeks in South Florida in the Miami canals. On Saturday Carl Gaudins from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I fished the C-100 canal and landed 7 peacocks up to 4 lbs. Carl caught his fish on shiners and I caught a few on jigs. With the water levels dropping and cooling off fishing will be getting real good over the next few months. We did see a few large male peacocks courting females indicating the water temperatures are close to perfect for spawning which is unusual for this time of year. South Florida Peacock Bass 10-25-08

South Florida Peacock Bass fishing is quite good now that the rainy season is coming to an end. On Saturday we had a guide trip with Ray Rodriguez and family from London, England. This was his second trip with us and we had a nice day catching 12 peacock bass up to 4 lbs. Each fish was caught on live shiners and we fished six hours. Water levels are cleaning up and dropping which should help bass fishing in the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee which has risen. Canals in South Florida are dropping and clearing up which will improve peacock fishing dramatically.

Here is an example of what South Florida bass fishing can be like. On Wednesday while peacock bass fishing in Miami Chip Timmons came up to us and asked if we could weigh his huge largemouth bass! We happened to have the boga grips out and this beauty weighed slightly over 10 lbs. Chip also didn't have a great camera on board to capture any good pictures. Yesterday Scott Eynon and his son Steven were out with us in South Florida for a 6 hour peacock bass trip. The guys landed 16 peacock bass up to three pounds all on small live shiners. The weather has been hot and rainy lately which has clouded up the water clarity in most South Florida canals but the fish still are biting considering very hot water. Ed Cohn and I were out in Kendall which is a south suburb of Miami peacock bass fishing Thursday for half-day trip. As the thunderstorms rolled in we headed off the water with 12 peacock bass up to 4 1/4 lbs. Ed had never fished for peacocks before and was amazed at their fighting abilities.
